In 2019, the UAE government implemented the Golden Visa system, which are long-term residence visas in the UAE which are issued for 5 or 10 years. These visas can be renewed automatically, provided all the rules are followed. According to the new system, foreigners can live, study and work in the state without the need of a national sponsor, as well as having the right to 100% business ownership on the UAE’s mainland.

Only several categories can be nominated to apply for a Golden Visa, such as investors, entrepreneurs, students with promising scientific capabilities, as well as specialized talents, and researchers in various fields of science and knowledge.
